The town centre - "shopping centre" continues to decline while the locals wait to see what will happen next. The biggest target for vandalism seems to be the old "Pik "n" Save" store beside the library. The wooden boards have now been ripped off leaving access to the dangerous building for any curious young explorers. It is also a magnet for nuisance fires. There has been no maintainance carried out since Balmore were bought out. I appreciate it does seem a waste of money boarding up a disused shop that may be scheduled for demolition but while the planning process seems to be in temporary limbo the shopping centre is still a fairly busy place with locals going to the library,Tweedie Hall, the health centre,RS Mcolls,Opticians,Chemist and of course the two housing offices,Linstone and Renfrewshire council. It would be great to see recognition of the fact that it is as yet not an abandonded shopping centre. It would be even better to have a public update on the regeneration plan.

From the sketches provided so far we expect to see our famous xmas tree spot taken over by another petrol station. At the same end of Bridge street will be the main car park access. The car park looks to take over the grass area from Venture pub site to the Tweedie Hall at least. In my opinion this access plan will be a disaster for Linwood. The slip road from kashmir ave at the public park is already useless at peak times and that has to be just the locals.
Once Tesco shoppers manage to navigate across this badly planned junction into Bridge street they will cause congenstion to local traffic particuarly of course at the peak times. If you imagine the traffic problems going in and out of Asda when its busy you will have an idea of what to expect here.
I have heard it said that planning permission will not be given to access the car park from Kashmir ave at the existing entrance near Health centre. Why? Because its a main thoroughfare? If thats the case why cant they realise that Kashmir ave is part of Linwood road and the entire Phoenix retail park is accessed directly from this main thoroughfare.

Traffic lights at peak times on the kashmir/Health centre junction and reduce kashmir and Linwood road to 30mph and we have a much safer and community friendly access plan.

This development should leave us with safer roads rather than more dangerous ones.
