The Proposals

In partnership with the local community and Renfrewshire Council, Tesco has spent the last year developing plans to fully redevelop Linwood Shopping Centre in a scheme centred around the needs of local people. Extensive consultation with the community and many hours of work on the part of the project team has resulted in the designs you see here. All sections of the community got involved in this process from Linwood Community Council, the Elderly Forum, Linwood Active, local schools, churches and traders as well as the Council, the Community Health Partnershipand Strathclyde Police. These images reflect the culmination of all this hard work and include a brand new Tweedie Hall which can respond to the present and future needs of the community along with a modern health centre and a new Tesco superstore which will help draw more people back into the heart of Linwood.

  • The town's new supermarket will have an attractive, environmentally-friendly design
  • New retail units will provide a modern mall-style shopping environment
  • A new, larger, community health centre may be developed
  • Linwood library will be relocated and upgraded
  • The Tweedie Hall will be relocated and redeveloped into a state-of-the-art community facility
  • A new six-pump petrol filling station will be developed
